Styling: The Peplum Top

One of my favorite trends this season is the peplum top, its cute and flirty, and super figure flattering. its a great go-to piece in any wardrobe and suits every body type. when searching for a peplum top to add to your wardrobe, remember this. try them on, find one where the seam between the top and the start of the peplum hits about mid waist, this is the most flattering in my opinion. and make sure the length of the peplum is at least 4-5 inches. for a top with a short peplum, make sure the top half hits lower on your waist.

now with that being said lets get started.

Outfit 1. Sweet and Flirty

this outfit is perfect for a day to night look. its sweet and feminine with the mint green and blush colors. the peplum already has some detailing on it so theres no need for a necklace, but you can add a little bit of bling with a few bracelets. the floral printed pants work because there are hints of mint green. The blush colored flats work as a neutral, but theres the same blush color in the jeans as well. if its chilly throw on a denim jacket and you're all set.

Outfit 2. Punked Out

Rings & Pins - Wit and Wisdom Ring

i love gold and black together, its sophisticated and trendy, and always seems to look put together. pair this black peplum with a gold statement necklace, and a quirky, chunky ring. a pair or leatherette leggings will look punked out, but still comfortable. finish off with a pair of nude fringed booties. its a surprise instead of black boots, but still looks cohesive because its a neutral.

3. Formally Acquainted.

Necklaces - Seeing Bauble Necklace

this look is great for going out or for a dress-y office look. the layers on the peplum are a cute added detail, and the complement the scalloped layered detail on the skirt. for a dark to super light ombre inspired look, start with a dark top, medium toned skirt, and a light nude heel. accessorize with clear crystals and gold for a well put together and classy look.

so there are three ways i would style the peplum top. I hope you enjoyed and want to try out this fun and flattering trend.

Favorite Summer Nail Polish

I just painted my nails... and of course as soon as i do so theres a bajillion things that i immediately want to do.... but i thought at least i can type this and tell you all about my favorite summer polishes.... seemed relevant... and no harm will come to my nails while doing this

with further ado.... heres the top 10 summer polishes

1. Turned up Turqouise

China GlazeNail Laquer with Hardeners

this neon blue color is bright and happy for the summer... but a change from the reds and pinks that are so typical.

2. 24/7

currently what i have on my nails now...
this bright pink is so bright that no camera on earth could do it justice. its just one of those colors that makes me so happy.

3. neon yellow

this bright yellow is brighter than the sun, and you might need to wear sunglasses after applying. apply a white coat underneath this bright color for even more bright sun shine-y happiness.

4. coconut kiss

i got my toes done once at a salon in this color and i forgot to look at the name, and i was on the hunt for it, towards the end of the pedicure i finally found it and it was an exact match. this is such a pretty purple for the summer. it looks great as a pedicure.

5. did you ear about van gogh

ok not gona lie i only bought this polish because of the name... typical... but i was pleasntly surprised by how pretty this sandy taupe color is. it reminds me of the beach, which is why its the perfect summer nude color.

6. Ballet Slippers

this is a pretty soft pink for a delicate summer manicure. because its sheer and pastel if it chips its not as noticable so its perfect for a fuss free manicure on vacation.

7. Bikini so Teeny

this is  a pretty summer blue. hopefully you dont have the blues... if you do apply this color to your nails for a pick me up, its a universally flattering shade. and its not obnoxious like some blue polishes.

8. orange it obvious

this pretty orange is a really cool color. orange is part of the warm family so its like wearing a red or a pink polish, but unique. this particular shade is bright and cheerful and would look great with a cobalt blue maxi dress.

9. holo-silver

silver holographic nail polish is totally trendy, but super uber cool. i love wearing this and watching my nail catch the light. its a really cool effect to have on your nails without having to spend time painting a design.

10. flip flop fantasy

looks great on your toes when wearing flip flops... hence the name. but seriously, this shade is my insta-tan color. coral is one of my power colors, but neon coral is my super power color. not only does it make me happy when wearing it, but i look one shade darker... which isn't much but ill take all the help i can get.

hope you enjoyed my top 10 picks.

All About Acessories - Bracelets

Just think of this post as your triple AAA insurance. Im here to protect you against over accessorizing, and what to do in the of chance that you're wearing too much!!!

Im going to make this a series, so there will be a couple more AAA posts.

Today we're gona talk about...

BRACELETS!!!

"stacking" is a repeat trend for this spring summer, but how much is too much?

heres a sure fire way to wear multiple bracelets without going over board.

Rule 1.  Different Textures

Mixing Different Textures creates interest. Here we have a braided bracelet which is more casual, mixed with a pave link bracelet, which is more dressy. the combination of all these gives a look of being put together but not over done. dont mix too many dressier bracelets during the day or you'll look way over done.

Rule 2. Color Story

stick to a palette. if you're going with silver find a couple complementary colors to your outfit. but dont just pair any old combo... it just starts to look crazy. when mixing metals try for three or more... just mixing two looks like you dont know what you were thinking. gold, bronze, and silver are a good mix.

Rule 3. When Getting Dressed an Odd # is Best

this rule is simple and easy to stick too, an odd number always looks better. theres less symmetry and it just nicer as you accessorize. i would say 3 or 5 max. 7 is a little tooooo much.

Healthy Foods!

Its always harder to eat right when you're stressed out and snacking while you're working. i know i absolutely love candy to snack on while I'm studying... its sweet and keeps me happy

But later i dont feel so happy because that sugar rush has disappeared.

i have been trying to make a conscious effort to eat healthier snack alternatives and get enough water and other nutrients in my body.

so here are a few of my favorite snacks.

1. Bunny Food

a fruit salad is healthy but tastes sweet, so it kicks my sugar craving, but is much healthier. Plus the eye craves color on a plate, so a mix of different fruits pleases the eye and can help you feel fuller faster.

2. Homemade Popcorn

theres something vastly more satisfiying about making my own popcorn... maybe because i worked at a movie theatre and i've seen what they do to their popcorn... (you dont want to know... really! you dont...)
its healthier and you dont have that awful taste of plasticky butter in your mouth after. just a pinch of salt and your good to go!

3. It's a Wrap.... Sandwich

I love tortillas, so i spread some mustard and add lettuce, turkey and peppercini's and wrap it up. its delicious and healthy. one tortilla is a good serving size you you're not over eating.

4. Greek Yogurt

this stuff is not only good for you, but it tastes good, plus you can use it as an alternative in alot of things you make. like cake, smoothies, guacamole! you can throw some fruit or granola on top for a filling breakfast.

5. Bruschetta

(Brew-sket-ta)

this is super easy to make and really tasty. pour some olive oil in a pan and stick your bread slices in there and grill them til they're your preferred shade of brown. mix olives, tomato basil and cheese if you want in a bowl and spread on the olive oil toasted bread. Bouna mangiare!

So there are a few healthier snack alternatives!

i know its not a fashion post, but sometimes i enjoy eating more than i do clothes!
