Finding Fashion in Nature

What inspires me most when im sketching or putting together outfits is nature, nature is something i can always count on being there. Inspiration is sometimes hard to find, which is why stepping outside and looking at my surroundings gives way to new ideas and outfits. Objects found in nature are organic, asymetrical, and have free flowing forms, which is why, especially for couture, it gives new inspiration for lines, shapes and silhouettes. One of the reasons why i love design is because i get a chance to create new ideas and garments that no one has yet thought of, most of those silhouettes have been inspired by elements i see in nature. Things in nature are constantly changing, just like fashion.

Here are outfits inspired by things i love in nature.

Outfit 1. Rose Gardens

obviously a garden has some kind of form or pattern to it since the layout was most likely designed, but the colors and shapes of the flowers are all unique. just like an outfit, which has design or has thought put in to it, an outfit also can be something new and unique.

a raspberry colored chiffon skirt is feminine and soft, much like a rose, pair this pretty skirt with a soft blush colored blouse.

both these colors are in the pink family, but the blouse is neutral enough so that it wont conflict with the skirt.

pair a quirky nude wedge heel for both height and interest.

keep your accessories delicate and within the same color family. a soft light pink is a safe bet. a belt will cinch in your waist to create shape, and a gold necklace adds interest at the neckline.

Outfit 2. Waterfalls

Waterfalls are great when im looking for inspiration when sketching dresses, paying close attention to the shape the falls are making gives ideas for necklines and hems.

a pretty high low skirt drapes like a waterfall flows.

a blue and white striped boat neck tee keeps the look casual but tuck in the shirt for a more polished look.

a pair of gladiator sandals with a slight wedge not only gives some height, but pulls the look together. keep the shoes to a neutral earth tone color because the outfit is so bright.

keep accessories simple, because the statement is the bold colors. a skinny belt the same color as your shoes keeps things neutral, and a gold watch and simple bracelet show good taste.

Outfit 3. Fields

one thing that keeps me entertained during long car rides are the notorious fields. I love watching the long rows of vineyards and what-not as I drive by.

i love olive skinnies because they're as versatile as a regular pair of jeans.

a cream or white lace t-shirt gives the look a more polished feel, while still being totally comfortable and casual.

a light weight gray scarf is the perfect neutral accessory for this outfit.

a light weight cardigan will help to stay warm if its still chilly, but roll up the sleeves so you can pair a cute cuff bracelet. and a pair f cognac heeled booties will tie the look together.

Hopefully you saw the elements of nature that inspired these outfits, some literal some not so much, either way i wanted to demonstrate how nature inspires my fashion choices.

Much love <3
