best of 2012!!

its new years eve! the last day of 2012, so what better time to list all of the amazing products i have liked this year!!

BEAUTY

1. Face product: hands down the cover girl nature luxe foundation

so maybe its only a drugstore foundation, but it gives me the right amount of coverage without feeling cakey or like i have a thick layer of foundation on my face. an added bonus! it actually comes in a shade that matches my uber pale skin! yes!

2. Cheek product: NYX's powder blushes

they're so pigmented, a little does go along way, and they have the same quality as a mac blush for a fraction of the price, who doesn't like a bargain?

3. Eye product: i have two

1. Urban Decay's Naked Palette

this has every neutral shade you could want. its great for creating subtle to dramatic eye looks. i have slowly stopped wearing colored eyeshadows like purple and stuck to more neutral looks with a winged eye liner and this palette gives me so many options i do not get bored!

2. mac's paint pot in painterly

this eye shadow primer covers all the veins and redness on my eyes and works great on its own with eyeliner or as a base for my eyeshadow and keeps it lasting all day long! love it!!

4. Lip Product: EOS lipbalm!

an all natural chapstick that comes in super cute packaging! do i need to say more? of wait, its makes my lips so soft!

5. Skincare Product

this doesnt make my acne go away entirely but it does a really good job of taking off make-up and cleaning my skin. my skin feels soft and happy :) after i wash my face.

6. Nail Polish: this one is really hard because i am sucha  nail junkie... i'd have to say... OPI's do u lilac it? and OPI's Malaga wine.

the lilac color is perfect for spring/summer and the vampyish red is a go to color for fall/winter season.

7. Hair product: Moraccan Oil

a little goes a long way... but a little makes my hair oh so soft! it keeps my ends from getting damaged by all the heat i use, and leaves a nice shine

8. Body product/Perfume: can you guess?

if you guessed daisy you guessed right! i love how fresh and light this scent is. and the cute bottle doesn't hurt either!!!

 

FASHION!

9. Clothing piece: hmm.. Chambray Shirts!

they go with everything!! and are so perfect for layering! how could i say no! i have maybe four or five in my closet and even though that sounds excessive! i wear them all so much!

10. Accessory: if you know me at all you know its my leopard print scarf from forever 21.

i've had it for a good three years now and its my most worn piece hands down.

11. Pair of shoes: i would have to say i've been loving the loafer trend for 2012.

my nude loafers go with so much and its a little different than your typical flat!

 

RANDOM

12. Favorite TV Show/Movie: ummmm... pretty little liars... no shame...

13. Favorite book:if you thought i'd say the hunger games like everyone else did you thought wrong. while that book was good, i dont think i enjoyed it as much as everyone else. my favorite book for this year was Helen of Troy by Margaret George.

i am an art and history nerd... and a avid reader of historical fiction! this book was good. margaret george did a wonderful job of portraying the trojan war through the eyes of Helen.

14. Food: this is bad but its panda express

my guilty pleasure... the best of the worst and the worst of the best.

15. Beverage: tea!

I have been trying to drink more tea than coffee.. it tastes good and has a bit of caffeine to keep me going!

16. Favorite song: maybe not my most favorite song to listen to but i get a kick out of watching the video everytime.

haha.

holographic nail polish

for christmas my amazing best friend bought me holographic nail polish and i have to say i am so hooked!! it looks so awesome, and it can add a kick to any outfit!

nail polish can technically be an accessory to an outfit, you can match, or mismatch and with awesome color selections from brands like OPI and SallyHansen, its hard not to find a color you dont like.

my best friend and i have been on the hunt for holographic nail polish and it has proved somewhat difficult to find, and costly.

but she found a treasure trove at Urban Outfitters and found some silver, pink, and teal holographic nail polish!

post christmas blues? spice it up with leopard!

leopard print is one of my all time favorite prints! animal prints in general work as neutrals so they can compliment almost any outfit! but leopard, in my opinion, goes with everything. it is my go to accessory when my outfit still feels blah!

keep the print in moderation... dont over do and you can make your outfit but sassy with a fierce print!




my favorite go to outfit when i dont know what to wear: a white oxford shirt, my jcrew pixie pants, brown boots, my miss dior cherie perfume, and of course my favorite leopard print scarf!!

Sweaters!!

I work at Jcrew, and I can't help but notice (maybe because I have to fold them all day) the sweaters. I love sweaters in the winter because they make for such an easy outfit! Throw them over jeans with some boots or with a circle skirt for a more dressier outfit. so i put together a few outfits with a couple of my favorite sweaters from Jcrew.

Outfit 1.

The frenchie sweater! with this i paired a chambray shirt underneath and a pair of teal green jeggings with flats!




Outfit 2.

scattered sequin sweater

I paired this with a navy circle skirt and a pair of navy heels and your ready for a holiday party! wear your hair up in a ballerina bun and you're all set!



outfit 3.

the tippi sweater!
this sweater is a basic for any wardrobe and comes in so many colors. it can literally be worn with anything. i buy mine a size larger than i would normally and pair it with a scarf, jeans, and nude flats or loafers for a relaxed vibe.

im staying up late... way past my bedtime to make my first post. Christmas is in four days and what better  way to start my fashion blog than to create a fashion wishlist! here are the top five things i have been loving this fall/winter season and have been a must on my it-list.

1. chunky infinity scarves!

theres nothing like keeping my neck warm when its cold outside and i have been loving these knit infinity scarves like this one from J.Crew!

2. chambray shirts

a chambray shirt is perfect for layering! every store i have been too lately carries this style shirt. its cute with leggings and boots, or a skirt for a more dressy look.

3. knee high cognac boots

these seriously go with everything! enough said!

4. anorak jacket

this jacket s super flattering. it cinches in your waist so you dont look as bulky when you're dressing up for the cold weather! plus its cute and goes with everything!

5. statement jewelry

if im at a complete loss for what to wear. ill throw on my chambray shirt and a statement necklace and i instantly feel good in my outift!!
