So unfortunately for me, i do have school in the summer, and thats the tricky thing with fashion because going to fashion school i want to look nice, but its also hot! so i want to be comfortable. so here are a few summer staples i have picked up to get me ready for summer classes.
So here we go!
1. Cropped Skinnies
first of all they're like a denim cigarette pant! i love the cigarette pant because i love my ankles, which sounds weird but i dont really care. but during the summer its nice to have a more seasonally appropriate denim. cropped skinnies look great with sandals and heels so you can dress them up or down.
2. Knit Maxi Skirt

2. Knit Maxi Skirt
so i made my own pattern for a fold over maxi skirt, which is awesome. it hugs around my hips but is fun and wide around the hem which makes them comfy but air-y for the summer, its great for lazy days and a cute but comfy easy outfit.
3. Lace Peplum
i just think they are a great versatile piece in any closet. they're lace so they breathe during the hot weather, but they look great with shorts, jeans, a skirt etc! its a great way to stay cool during those heat waves but look cute and polished.
4. Fun Scarf
i go to school in the city, so layering is key for me. its cold during the morning but usually warms up a bit during the day... but some of my classroom are chilly. so a scarf is always a good idea to keep on me. they're lightweight and dont take up a lot of room, but add an extra layer for warmth when needed.
5. Sandals
preferably a pair with a back strap. i would love to wear flip flops 24/7 but going to the city i feel like flip flops aren't so safe. these are cute and the teal color adds a pop to any outfit, but most importantly my feet are secure and im less likely to trip!!
6. Crochet and Chambray
its cute and feminine, and an aodrable combination of textiles. I love the idea of crochet and chambray. add a cute top that fits your style into your wardrobe for the summer, its lightweight enough to keep you cool, but looks polished so you dont look like you just rolled out of bed.
7. High Low Tank
keep the back hem to a minimum, i have seen some extreme high low tanks... which confused me because the back is long enough to be a dress but the front is wayyyy too short... but for a casual look with just leggings and maybe a denim jacket or cardigan, its casual but comfy and you can definitely dress it up with cute accessories.
8. Bralette
not as a shirt on its own, heaven forbid, but i think they're super cute layered under a shirt or a tank. it replaces the bra during the summer so you'll definitely feel more comfortable, but its a cute layering piece as well. its just a good thing to have in your wardrobe.
9. Thin Oversized Cardigan
this is a perfect layering piece once again, its great for the foggy mornings and chilly evenings, and like the scarf its thin enough to stuff in your bag for when you dont need it. oversized cardigans have gotten quite trendy, but pair it with a less voluminous outfit so you dont overwhelm your body.
10. Paper Bag Shorts
personally i hate tight shorts with short inseams... i just dont feel comfortable. i do however love the paper bag style short. its a looser cut, often with a bow tie detail at the front. linen is a good option for the summer, even though it wrinkles very quickly it still helps to keep you cooler.
so there are my summer basics for summer school. stay chic and comfy, while beating the heat! every teacher loves a a student who can accomplish a lot!!
Much Love <3
perfect advice for summer... and not just for summer school either!
