Outfit Inspiration with Wardrobe Basics

I like to have basic pieces in my wardrobe, if you saw my 15 wardrobe essentials you'll know what im talking about. It helps to keep a fashion forward outfit from going to overboard... or to create a simple silhouette thats flattering but easy.

either way its nice to rely on my wardrobe basics to help me out from time to time. so i will be putting together outfits based on my wardrobe basics.

Outfit 1. The White Button Down

this piece should be everyone woman's best friend. its perfect for both casual and professional outfits, its great on its own or as a layering piece, but to spice it up im going to pair it with my leopard printed jeans.

because printed jeans are such a bold statement the white works as a neutral to calm down the loudness of the print. but... to make this outfit even better layer a striped sweater over the button down

keep the colors from the same family so the outfit doesn't go overboard, but the contrasting patterns make for an interesting ensemble!

for shoes go for a bold color, like teal.

this way you can still add some color to your neutral outfit!

Outfit 2. The Sweater

i love the versatility of a plain sweater, this medium grey color is perfect for transitioning from winter to spring. layer it over a striped dress to tone down a bold pattern, and to stay warm while its still a little chilly.

wrap a bold belt around your waist, this will not only cinch in your waist, but also give the illusion that the dress is actually a skirt as well!

a statement belt, like one with a big bow, can add a bit more fun to your outfit.

add some red ballet flats and you have a nautical and flirty outfit!

Outfit 3. The Jeans

oh the jeans! sometimes i think we forget how fortunate we are to even be allowed to wear jeans... i mean it wasn't until the last few decades that women were allowed to wear them, and they are a great wardrobe staple, for this upcoming season, go for a midtone wash, this way you'll look seasonally appropriate.

Blouses - What a Fruity Pie Topbecause the jeans are so basic, go for a fun top with a quirky print, like this one. a fun neckline or collar adds interest to your outfit and you wont even need a necklace!

if its still cold, layer a cardigan in a color that coordinates with a color on your top, pick a color that has minimal presence.

a shawl like cardigan helps to keep the look casual, but still well put together.

and a pair of oxford flats will still help you keep a sense of style.

Earrings - Around the Green Earring cute vintage inspired earrings will help to complete the look.

so there are a few examples of how to take your wardrobe basics and create interesting outfits to help express your style. sometimes fashion takes some experimenting to find out what works for you. you can still have an individual style with wardrobe basics, but learning how to dress them up with other pieces in your wardrobe allows you alot more versatility.

as always have fun! <3
