Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking...

one of my favorite all time movies is the Devil Wears Prada, i can literally recite the lines along the whole movie. I am not ashamed. Miranda Priestly turns down her nose at the idea of floral for spring, but i disagree.

when the weather starts getting warmer theres something refreshing about a floral print. It signifies the end of the cold winter season, and the start of the warmer happier months of spring.

There is however an easy way to transition your florals into spring, even if its still cold outside.
So im going to choose one floral dress and style it three ways to get the most wear out of it, and keep you warm for now. :)

THE DRESS

OUTFIT 1. Baby its still cold outside.

so i got my first glimpse of warm weather today in san francisco, but for the mot part its still been pretty cold, but im craving cute dresses. so to stay warm layer on a cream cardigan and a brown leather jacket.

add some tights with brown boots to keep your legs warm.

to finish off the look add a gold pendant.

OUTFIT 2. The Temperatures are rising.

so for the second look, which is meant for when it starts to warm up but its still a little chilly. so to start out layer a cute teal sweater over the skirt

to make the dress appear as a skirt wrap a belt around your waist.

the sweater will keep you warm, and the belt adds versatility, because you just turned your dress into a skirt, so its like having two pieces in your wardrobe instead of one.

finish off the look with flats and some cute pearl studs for a more polished vibe.

the studding on the shoes adds some unexpected fun to your outfit.

OUTFIT 3. Spring has Sprung

so one of my favorite things to do to  make my dress look effortlessly cool, is to layer a un-buttoned oxford shirt over the dress.

the color blocking of this shirt seems like your adding another pattern, but its still simple enough to not overwhelm your dress.

lace flats are a cute neutral to add to the outfit's laid back look. they're polished enough to tie your outfit together, but casual for a comfier vibe.

layer some necklaces as well. the trick to layering necklaces is to layer no more than three or four and make sure the lengths of each necklace are different.

So Miranda, I think i've successfully styled some cute floral outfits for spring... pretty groundbreaking after all... and i didn't even have to shoot them in an industrial space for a raw contrast...

Have Fun <3
