lets talk about the little black dress

we all know, as women, that we should have that little black dress in our closets. it's that basic item of clothing that is our security blanket... don't know what to wear? throw on the little black dress and some heels and you're ready. right?

eh maybe... but my little black dress gets boring, realllllly quick... so i put together a couple of outfits together so that you're LBD can be worn for a night out or a casual day outfit, and even to the office.

so lets get started!

OUTFIT 1. A night out on the town.

to spice up the basic black, add fun accessories or some bold tights. right now i'm loving a sparkly gold with black, because the gold stands out and looks vibrant against black. so i'd pair this dress with sheer black tights, and gold belt, sparkly gold shoes and if its not too much for you already a gold statement necklace.

you can switch out the gold necklace with a gold bracelet if you're feeling overwhelmed. remember theres no need to go overboard with the accessories, but its no fun to hold back either. :)

OUTFIT 2. Casual Day

to make your little black dress wearable during the day, i'd pair it with a chunky cable knit sweater, a cozy scarf, oxblood leggings and some cute booties. if it's extra cold out this winter layer a anorak style jacket over that to help cinch in your waist and a knit beanie.

try to keep this outfit to three colors so you dont let it get so overwhelming. i kept it to cream, black and oxblood. the cream and the black work as neutrals so the oxblood is a statement color.

OUTFIT 3. Office Appropriate

sometimes it can be hard to wear a dress to work that feels both comfortable and office appropriate. so with this dress i'd pair it with an oxford button down and a belt to cinch in the waist and a cute, but comfy, pair of heels.

wear the shirt over the dress and fold the bottom of the shirt underneath and hide it with a belt around your waist, or wear the button down underneath the dress. if you find your hemline a little bit short put some black tights underneath.

also don't be afraid to mix a little black and brown together. a nice cognac looks good with black without being overly obvious that you're mixing two neutrals.

obviously this wont be everyone's style, but if you're at a loss to wear these are three ideas that can take you from the office to daywear to evening. it's totally worth it to splurge on a little black dress if you know you can get a ton of wear out of it.

hope it helped <3!!
